By Mark01 December 2017

What you eat has a direct influence on your health

Broccoli is one of those vegetables that contain health-boosting compounds. Broccoli can give you a sharp and mentally fit brain and can even prevent Alzheimer’s disease!

Here’s what’s so good about broccoli (besides the taste of course!)

Sulforaphane

Broccoli has an anti-cancer component called Sulforaphane, you can find it in cruciferous vegetables (Cabbage, Brussel Sprouts, Cauliflower etc.).  And mostly in broccoli sprouts. Researchers from Johns Hopkins University discovered that three-day-old broccoli sprouts have the compounds to reduce the risk of cancer. But broccoli sprouts are not only useful for healthy individuals that want to stay healthy. Another research conducted in Korea showed that Sulforaphane has the potential to improve cognitive functions with schizophrenia patients.

Lipoic Acid

Broccoli also contains lipoic acid. Recent research found that lipoic acid may be used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. It is especially effective in the beginning phase of the disease because it slows down the progression. Moreover, it helps the improvement of cholinergic cognitive dysfunction.

Folic acids

Folic acids are also found in broccoli and they are good for your memory. The more of folic acid you daily have, the less likely you are to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

Vitamins

Last but never least. Broccoli is a great source of Vitamin K which helps you to improve your cognitive abilities.
